The production team behind the television anime adaptation of Ezogingitune and illustrator DeeCHA’s light novel series I Became a Legend After My 10 Year-Long Last Stand (Koko wa Ore ni Makasete Saki ni Ike to Ittekara 10-nen ga Tattara Densetsu ni Natteita.) announced that Naoto Kobayashi has joined the cast as Garuvu, a sacred wolf beast. The character made his on-screen debut during the anime’s sixth episode.
Square Enix and Comikey publish the English manga version of the series, outlining the narrative as follows:
Left with no alternative, Luck stays behind to hold off an endless wave of demonic forces by himself, ensuring his companions can escape safely. Through a blend of luck, tactical brilliance, and sheer resourcefulness, he manages to hold the line for a full decade, ultimately emerging victorious on his own. Now, he faces the peculiar challenge of navigating a world where he is viewed simultaneously as a living legend, a seasoned veteran, and a complete newcomer.
The main voice cast features Nobuhiko Okamoto, Kōsuke Toriumi, Takehito Koyasu, Shinya Takahashi, and Satoshi Hino as the vampires who play a pivotal role in the plot.
Hiroyuki Kanbe (Viper’s Creed) directs the series at studio Gekkō. Mitsutaka Hirota (Edens Zero) oversees the series scripts, while Majiro (Macross Delta) provides the character designs. The opening theme song, "Soredemo Donten o Koeteyuku" (Even So, We Go Past the Cloudy Skies), is performed by sajou no hana. Additionally, the rock-idol group MEISHOHIKOKAI sings the ending theme, "Ari Kitari na Nichijō to Kōun na Hibi e" (Lucky in the Ordinary).
The anime initially premiered on Amazon Prime Video on July 3, followed by broadcasts on ABEMA, d Anime Store, and various television networks including Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, TV Aichi, and BS11 starting July 6, with an AT-X run beginning July 9. The series was originally slated for an April release, but was postponed to July to ensure a higher-quality production. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the series as it airs in Japan.
Originally launched as a web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in June 2018, the series released its first light novel volume in February 2019, with the eighth volume scheduled for release on July 15. A manga adaptation illustrated by Chaco Abeno with composition by Kitsune Tennōji debuted on Square Enix’s Manga UP! platform in August 2019, with the 19th compiled volume published on April 7. Together, the light novel and manga editions boast a combined total of over 4.45 million copies in circulation.
