Fans finally have a concrete release window to look forward to. Kingdom Hearts 4 is officially slated to launch in late 2027, as announced on Friday evening during the D23 Entertainment Showcase—the same event that brought the Kingdom Hearts anime series announcement.
Alongside the release timeline, a brand-new trailer confirmed that Pixar’s Coco will be one of the game’s playable worlds, prominently featuring fan-favorite character Héctor.
Pixar validated the news on social media shortly after the presentation, confirming the Coco crossover for the game’s late 2027 debut. The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley also stepped in to verify the official launch window.

The Long Road To Kingdom Hearts 4
Square Enix initially pulled back the curtain on the project back in April 2022 during the franchise’s 20th-anniversary celebration. That reveal showed Sora waking up in the strikingly realistic setting of Quadratum before the game went radio silent for four years.
A fresh teaser appeared earlier this summer, followed by brief retail listings pointing to 2027 that were quickly taken down. Now, the release window is set in stone.
Digital wishlists are open across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC platforms including Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Xbox on PC. Behind the scenes, series veteran Tai Yasue returns as co-director, while Haley Joel Osment and David Gallagher reprise their iconic roles as Sora and Riku.
It is also worth noting that insider Daniel Richtman accurately scooped the news earlier on Friday morning, teasing that a major Kingdom Hearts reveal was headed to D23 and specifically pointing out the Coco integration.

As the franchise celebrates its milestone 25th anniversary, Disney is hosting a dedicated “Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts” panel on Saturday at 4:30 pm PT. The event will stream live on Disney’s official YouTube channel.
With Yasue and members of the voice cast scheduled to appear, fans can look forward to a much closer look at gameplay mechanics and potentially announcements regarding additional Disney worlds.
