Kenshi Yonezu Joins Live Action Look Back

Singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu is set to make a special guest appearance on the guitar for the live-action movie adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga *Look Back*. Directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, the film is scheduled to premiere in Japan on September 11, 2026. Yonezu’s contribution was officially announced on August 20, and he will be credited under the pseudonym “Shark Kick Guitar.”

Deep Creative Ties to the Creators and Cast

Yonezu’s involvement in the project builds upon a strong history of collaborations with key figures behind the film. He previously delivered the smash-hit opening theme “KICK BACK” for the anime adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s *Chainsaw Man*, and later contributed the theme song “IRIS OUT” alongside the ending theme “JANE DOE” for the theatrical *Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc*.

Beyond his work with Fujimoto, Yonezu has a prior creative relationship with director Hirokazu Koreeda, who previously directed the music video for Yonezu’s track “Canary.” Furthermore, Yonezu has frequently collaborated with Yuta Bandoh, the official composer for *Look Back*.

These overlapping creative circles paved the way for Yonezu’s musical cameo. Audiences will be able to hear his distinct guitar stylings during a specific sequence within the film, which can only be experienced by watching the full movie in theaters.
