The next ONE PIECE anime film is set to dive into one of the most legendary events in the series’ lore: the God Valley Incident. Eiichiro Oda initially hinted at the project during Jump Festa 2026, promising a storyline that would immediately captivate the entire fan base. Slated as the franchise’s 15th feature film, it will hit Japanese theaters in the summer of 2027. Furthermore, a 16th movie officially titled ONE PIECE FILM: BAAD was also revealed for a 2029 release.
The massive double-feature announcement capped off the ONE PIECE DAY ’26 celebration. Earlier during the event, the final tallies for the second global character popularity poll crowned Luffy at number one. Additionally, the live-action adaptation revealed new additions to its cast—introducing the actors portraying Koza, Pell, Toto, and Chaka ahead of the Alabasta saga in Season 3.
For the uninitiated, the God Valley Incident is famous for the historic clash where Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp formed an unexpected alliance to take down the Rocks Pirates. The newly released teaser video highlights these three pivotal figures:
The franchise’s previous cinematic outing, ONE PIECE FILM RED, debuted back in August 2022. It dominated the Japanese box office during its opening weekend, pulling in roughly ¥2.25 billion (around $15 million) from 1.57 million moviegoers. Those figures secured the highest opening-weekend box office and audience turnout for any film released in 2022, quickly propelling it to become the highest-grossing movie in the history of the ONE PIECE IP.
Authored by Eiichiro Oda, ONE PIECE stands tall as a titan in the manga and anime industries. Since its debut serialization in 1997, total worldwide circulation has surpassed 600 million copies. The manga’s momentum continues with Chapter 1190 dropping on August 9, while Toei Animation’s television adaptation—which began broadcasting in 1999—ventured into the Elbaph Arc in April 2026 following a three-month hiatus.
