The latest manga chart results are out, and a surprise contender has narrowly outperformed Black Clover‘s much-anticipated conclusion.
According to Oricon data, Sakamoto Days Volume 28 captured the number-one spot on the official sales charts, moving an impressive 64,930 copies between August 3 and August 9. Hot on its heels was Black Clover Volume 38, which secured second place with 64,779 units sold—falling just short of the crown with its final installment. Both volumes hit shelves simultaneously on August 4, 2026.
The First Oricon Manga Sales Ranking for August Features Black Clover, One Piece & More
Rounding out the top tier of the Oricon rankings, The Apothecary Diaries Volume 17 claimed third place, Isekai Izakaya “Nobu” Volume 22 took fourth, and Haimiya-senpai Is Scary Cute Volume 3 landed in fifth. The list proceeds with Akane-banashi Volume 23, Sameone Hertz Volume 4, The Elusive Samurai Volume 26, and Kujou no Taizai Volume 17.
Sitting at the 10th spot is One Piece Volume 115, which added 23,433 units to its tally during the opening week of August. Even so, this remains a remarkable feat; following its debut in July, the volume shifted an astounding 627,567 copies in just a few days, surpassing Hunter x Hunter Volume 39 to solidify its place as one of the year’s fastest-selling releases.
Black Clover Continues to Be a Massive Hit Ahead of New Season 2 Anime
Authored by Yūki Tabata, Black Clover originally launched in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2015 before transitioning to Jump Giga in 2023. The narrative centers on Asta, an orphan raised in a secluded village where nearly everyone possesses a natural gift for wielding magic through mana.
Conversely, Asta is born without any magical aptitude, driving him to compensate through rigorous physical training and perseverance. Meanwhile, his childhood rival and closest friend, Yuno, emerges as a magical prodigy. Both young men share the ultimate ambition of becoming the Wizard King.
Throughout their journey, the duo acquires unique grimoires containing powerful arcane spells, helping them climb the ranks within their respective Magic Knight squads. Along the way, Asta and Yuno face formidable adversaries like the Dark Triad and the Eye of the Midnight Sun, all while uncovering deep-seated secrets about the true nature of their world.
Ever since its inception, Black Clover has maintained a massive global following, moving millions of volumes and inspiring both a television adaptation and an animated movie. Audiences are eagerly anticipating Black Clover Season 2, slated to debut on TV Tokyo this October. Crunchyroll has confirmed international streaming rights, though an exact premiere date has yet to be announced.
