Toei Animation and developer Studio51 have released a fresh teaser trailer for Expelled from Paradise -The Stellar Angel- (Rakuen Tsuihō -The Stellar Angel-), an upcoming visual novel set within the Expelled from Paradise universe. The footage confirms that the game will launch on November 26 for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, complete with English language support alongside Japanese.
Published by Toei Animation, the game serves as a direct sequel to the original theatrical anime, continuing the journeys of Angela and Dingo. According to the publisher, the title is a full-scale visual novel designed to deliver an expansive science-fiction experience driven by expressive storytelling and immersive direction.
Meanwhile, the franchise’s brand-new feature-length sequel film, Rakuen Tsuihō -Expelled from Paradise- Kokoro no Resonance (Heart’s Resonance), is scheduled to hit Japanese theaters on November 13.
The movie brings back the core creative team behind the original 2014 film, featuring director Seiji Mizushima, scriptwriter Gen Urobuchi of Nitroplus, character designer Masatsugu Saitō, and composer NARASAKI, with animation production by Toei Animation. The film’s title has undergone a few variations since its initial announcement, previously being referred to as Rakuen Tsuihō: Liberated from Paradise before settling on the Kokoro no Resonance subtitle.
The original Expelled from Paradise movie premiered in November 2014, playing in 13 Japanese theaters and selling 110,000 tickets. Its subsequent home video release surpassed 70,000 copies sold in Japan, and the film went on to win Best Animation of the Year at the 24th Japan Movie Critics Awards in May 2015. Aniplex of America later brought the film to 15 U.S. theaters in December 2014 before releasing it on Blu-ray across North, Central, and South America in 2015. To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the original film returned to Japanese theaters in a remastered 4K release titled Expelled from Paradise -Impelled by 10th Anniversary- in November 2024.
