IDW Publishing has launched the digital release of Yuki Imada’s manga, Sonic the Hedgehog: The Blade of Courage, available exclusively through its official app service. The debut chapter became accessible to readers in late July 2026. Following this initial release, new installments will roll out every three weeks, with the second chapter scheduled to drop on August 19, 2026.
According to the official description provided on the IDW Publishing app:
The popular Sonic the Hedgehog: The Blade of Courage manga has officially made its way to English-speaking audiences! Join the Blue Blur—renowned as the fastest living being—as he teams up with a self-described slowpoke named Yuta. Together, they will journey deep into the jungle, face off against dangerous adversaries, and strive to save the world.
In the opening chapter, Sonic and Yuta cross paths for the very first time, quickly getting dragged into a high-stakes escapade when a criminal targets the passengers of a moving train.
Yuki Imada initially launched the serialization of Sonic the Hedgehog: The Blade of Courage inside Shogakukan’s Monthly CoroCoro Comic back in June 2025, with a collected tankobon volume subsequently hitting shelves in Japan in December 2025.
Before this project, Imada also illustrated the Shadow the Hedgehog manga series, which ran from September 2024 through February 2025 and is slated for an English localization down the road.
IDW Publishing has a long history of producing English comic books based on SEGA’s iconic franchise, notably managing the ongoing monthly series that kicked off back in April 2018.
