Get ready for a unique blend of classic fairy tales and gritty whodunits, as Aito Aoyagi’s acclaimed detective novel series “Red Riding Hood Finds a Corpse” is officially getting an anime adaptation.
To celebrate the announcement, the production team has released the very first promotional trailer, a striking visual poster, and confirmed a release window slated for 2027.
The narrative drops Little Red Riding Hood into a sprawling, interconnected fantasy realm inspired by beloved stories ranging from “Cinderella” to “Sleeping Beauty.” Instead of her traditional journey, she finds herself constantly stumbling upon dark crimes and baffling mysteries, forcing her to put on her detective hat and hunt down the culprits.

The voice cast features Yume Miyamoto (known for her role as Rikka Tenai in “Jujutsu Kaisen”) breathing life into Red Riding Hood, while Akira Sekine (recognized as the Princess in “Ranking of Kings”) will voice Pinocchio. Animation duties are being spearheaded by BENTEN Film studio. Itsuro Kawasaki is attached as both director and screenwriter, with Manami Minakata and Yuko Yahiro leading character design efforts.
This isn’t the franchise’s first foray into visual media; Aoyagi’s stories previously inspired a manga adaptation featuring illustrations by Noki Tanaka. Additionally, Netflix expanded the universe in 2023 with a live-action film adaptation of the first book, which followed Red Riding Hood and Cinderella as they teamed up to solve the puzzling murder of the royal hairdresser.
