Solo Leveling: Ragnarok caught readers off guard with an unexpected hiatus in January when its manhwa artist, Jin, was called up for mandatory military service. Penned by light novel author Daul, this series functions as a spin-off rather than a direct continuation of Chugong’s original epic. Following its July 2024 manhwa debut, the action-fantasy spin-off quickly captured a massive following by building on the universe of the parent series. It centers on Sung Suho—the son of Sung Jinwoo and Cha Haein—who was first introduced during the epilogue of the original run.
According to an announcement from Tapas’ official X account, the light novel is slated to make its eagerly awaited return on August 12th, 2026. As the official global distributor for both the novel and the manhwa, Tapas provides international fans with translated chapters. Although the original source text is already complete, its English translation has been rolling out on the platform since 2024. The novel previously went on an indefinite hiatus in September after chapter 318. With new chapters typically dropping every three days, the English translation is now entering its final stretch, giving fans a great way to catch up while they wait for the manhwa to resume.
Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Manhwa Return Date Still Unconfirmed

Because mandatory military service in South Korea typically spans 18 to 21 months, publishers opted not to keep the project on hold for the artist’s return. Alongside the indefinite break following the Season 2 finale, it was revealed that a new artist will take over illustration duties when the webtoon comes back. Seasonal breaks usually last just a few months, meaning an official announcement regarding the webtoon’s comeback could drop at any time.
Even though fresh digital chapters have been paused for several months, physical releases are moving forward. The English edition of Volume 1 is already out, with Volume 2 scheduled for October 20th and Volume 3 following on January 19th, 2027. Though YenPress has yet to update its official listings, @SoloLevelUpdate gave fans a sneak peek at the Juho-featured cover art on X.
What’s Next For Solo Leveling Fans?

Following a silence that lasted over a year, the franchise finally provided a major update during Anime Expo in July. The core anime narrative will advance via a feature-length film that directly picks up after the events of Season 2. However, outside of a promotional key visual and a concept teaser, producers have kept quiet about a definitive release date.
Season 2 concluded right after the fan-favorite Jeju Island Arc. Moving forward, Sung Jinwoo’s path will only grow more perilous as he dives deeper into the dark truths governing his universe. The upcoming movie is set to expand the cast significantly by introducing elite National-Level Hunters from across the globe alongside the enigmatic monarchs.
