During its panel at Anime NYC, REMOW announced that the upcoming television anime adaptation of Kuzushiro’s manga The Moon on a Rainy Night (Amayo no Tsuki) is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
Published in English by Kodansha USA, the original story follows Saki, a high schooler who has a fateful encounter on a rainy night when she bumps into a mysterious, long-haired girl and drops her sheet music. The next morning, Saki discovers that the girl—named Kanon—is her new classmate. Though Kanon is hard of hearing and often keeps people at a distance with her cold exterior, Saki’s warmth slowly begins to break through her defenses, sparking deeper feelings between the two.
The anime adaptation is currently in production at studio CompTown, with Tomoe Makino (Aharen-san wa Hakarenai, A Tale of the Secret Saint) serving as director. Shōgo Yasukawa (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, Rock is a Lady’s Modesty) is handling the series scripts and composition, while Ayumi Nishibata (Otherside Picnic, Migi & Dali) is designing the characters.
Creator Kuzushiro originally launched the manga on Kodansha’s Comic Days platform in June 2021. Kodansha released the series’ 12th collected volume in Japan, while Kodansha USA continues to publish the English digital edition.
