Anime fans have several exciting Blu-ray releases to look forward to, starting on Monday, August 10. Crunchyroll is launching the second-season Blu-ray for The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You. The upcoming volume is officially outlined as follows:
“Rentaro has paired with six of his destined soulmates, so it’s time to add more! From maids to masochists, these new girls bring a different brand of hijinks. But can Rentaro navigate this chaotic love life all while a deadly curse looms overhead?”
Additionally, MVM is rolling out a Blu-ray edition for My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered. The release synopsis details:
“When Yogiri Takatou and Tomochika Dannoura are transported into another world along with classmates, they seem to be left out when others are gifted with amazing superpowers and the chance to become Sages. Are they doomed to become dragon bait? Or could it be that they already have a few special abilities of their own from back home that no one is expecting? That would be extremely helpful, as there aren’t many people left they can trust, least of all their now power-mad former classmates and the Sages who supposedly ‘defend’ this world…”
Behind the scenes, the anime was directed by Masakazu Hishida (Fairy Ranmaru, Ensemble Stars!, KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm) at the animation studio Okuru to Noboru. Hishida also handled the series scripts and composition under the pen name Jou Aoba. Character designs were crafted by Sayuri Sakimoto (Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki (OAV 5/2020)). The musical score was composed by a team featuring Hanae Nakamura, Tatsuhiko Saiki, Kanade Sakuma, and Daisuke Kadowaki. The opening theme, “Killer Bars,” was performed by Hilcrhyme, while the ending theme, “Haze,” was delivered by Maika Sakuragi (voiced by Anna Suzuki) from the virtual idol unit Utahime Dream.
The franchise originally began as a web novel published by Fujitaka on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō platform in 2016, before Earth Star Entertainment picked it up for print publication alongside illustrations by Chisato Naruse.
Rounding out the lineup, Anime Limited has announced the “Yokai” Collector’s Edition Blu-ray for the second season of DAN DA DAN. This special package will be sold exclusively through the AllTheAnime online storefront and includes a sticker sheet, a glow-in-the-dark key visual art card, and a comprehensive 56-page booklet packed with character artwork, cast and staff interviews, and rare production materials such as storyboards, key animations, and color scripts.
