Set in Kyoto during the turbulent Bakumatsu era, the story follows an amnesiac soldier who is rescued by the renowned Shinsengumi member Okita Sōji. Given the new identity “Tachikawa Jinsuke” by Okita, the protagonist embarks on a fresh chapter of his life surrounded by the Mibu warriors.
The production features an original story crafted by Yutaka Narui and Aniplex, with story cooperation from Azuki Mashiba. Tomohiro Kawamura is directing the series at Live2D Creative Studio and Drive Inc., while Narui also handles the scriptwriting duties. Additional staff members include character designer Fumi Ebina and composer Shigeru Kishida.
The anime is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 on CBC, TBS, and 26 affiliated stations under the “Agaru Anime” programming block. Prior to its television broadcast, an early theatrical screening will be held in 2026.
Additionally, a four-panel manga adaptation illustrated by Matsuri Muramatsu is set to debut in 2026 on Star Seas Company‘s Twi4 (Tsuiyon) X account.
Yutaka Narui, a playwright and the founder of the theatrical troupe Caramel Box, has a rich background in creating Shinsengumi-themed stage productions. Although one of his past plays shared the title Kaze wo Tsugumono—distinguished by a different kanji-and-hiragana writing format for “mono”—the upcoming broadcast is officially billed as an original television anime.
