Takeo Ōtsuka Cast as Yamanaka Keisuke in Upcoming January 2027 Anime
The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the upcoming original television anime project Inherit the Winds (Kaze wo Tsugumono) revealed on Wednesday that voice actor Takeo Ōtsuka has joined the cast to portray Yamanaka Keisuke. *(Note: Historical Japanese names are presented with the family name first.)*

Set in Kyoto during the turbulent Bakumatsu period, the story follows an amnesiac soldier who is rescued by the renowned Shinsengumi member Okita Sōji. Given the new identity “Tachikawa Jinsuke” by Okita, the protagonist begins a fresh chapter of his life surrounded by the Mibu warriors.
The series is crafted by original story creators Yutaka Narui and Aniplex, with story cooperation from Azuki Mashiba. Tomohiro Kawamura is directing the project across Live2D Creative Studio and Drive Inc., while Narui also handles the scriptwriting. Additional staff members include character designer Fumi Ebina and composer Shigeru Kishida.
The anime is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 during the “Agaru Anime” programming block across CBC, TBS, and 26 affiliate networks. An early theatrical screening is planned ahead of the broadcast in 2026.
Additionally, a four-panel manga adaptation illustrated by Matsuri Muramatsu is set to debut in 2026 on the Twi4 (Tsuiyon) X account run by Star Seas Company.
Yutaka Narui, a playwright and the founder of the theatrical troupe Caramel Box, has a rich background in writing Shinsengumi-themed stage productions. Although one of his previous plays shared the title Kaze wo Tsugumono—differing slightly in how the word “mono” is written (using kanji for the stage play versus hiragana for the anime)—the upcoming project continues to be billed as an original television anime.
