That burning question echoes through the explosive first look at Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the upcoming standalone chapter in Netflix’s acclaimed anime adaptation of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. Given that the original series—which won praise from heavyweights like tabletop creator Mike Pondsmith and visionary game director Hideo Kojima—wrapped up its story cleanly, this 10-episode second season is charting a fresh course with new faces and a brand-new narrative. Thanks to a newly dropped teaser from Netflix, fans finally have a glimpse of what’s in store for Night City.
Clocking in at an intense 80 seconds, the teaser functions more as a high-octane hype reel than a traditional character introduction. Driven by a relentless, synth-heavy score by DOUDOU, the footage flashes through relentless bursts of violence and neon-drenched chaos. Cryptic text cards flash across the screen—proclaiming that "In Night City the lines between redemption and revenge will blur" and "Night City will burn again"—before culminating in a chilling moment where a young boy asks a man, "You’re a weapon? A weapon made out of people?" It’s quintessential cyberpunk storytelling at its finest.
While the clip keeps specific plot details under wraps, Netflix has previously pulled back the curtain on the new main cast. Heading into the fray are Weak Kingsley (voiced by Clancy Brown), a seasoned edgerunner past his prime; Talia Yang (Kimoy Lee), a heavily augmented and battle-hardened Maelstrom operative; D (Nazeeh Tarsha), a nomad netrunner fueled by a desire for vengeance; and Roman Carax (Valeria Rodriguez), a youthful cinephile aiming to capture the brutal reality of Night City on film.
Alongside the teaser, Netflix confirmed that all 10 episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will premiere on Tuesday, October 20.
