Created by Toryumon Takeda, DOGA follows the story of Yote, a sheltered young nobleman who steps outside his castle to explore the free city of Leoure. Shortly after experiencing the wider world for the first time, he is tragically murdered by street robbers. However, a brilliant female inventor rescues him by transplanting his consciousness into a fragile cyborg body—giving him a limited lease on life.
Determined to regain his humanity, Yote learns that only legendary mermaids possess the magic to restore him. To aid in his dangerous quest, he teams up with Doga, a clever and resilient street orphan eager to escape Leoure, kicking off an unpredictable adventure across the land.
Takeda originally debuted the manga on Futabasha’s Web Action platform in October 2023, with the sixth volume hitting shelves on July 24.
Beyond DOGA, Takeda’s work continues to gain international attention. Alien Books is slated to release Takeda’s Badducks manga in English this fall. Additionally, Kadokawa published Takeda’s short story collection, One More Step, Come Stand by My Side, in April 2022, which was later brought to English-speaking readers by Yen Press in November 2023.
